Oak Park Avenue
Cruise Night Heats Up Summer 2016

Date: August 14, 2016

The smell of barbecue is one of the many cues that summer is here. Thankfully, Tinley Park offers the opportunity to partake in this smell each week. A south suburb of Chicago, the Village hosts a cruise night every Tuesday evening from 4 PM to 9 PM.

In one of the few cruises in the area to do this feat, they actually close down one side of the main thoroughfare of Downtown Tinley, Oak Park Avenue. Traffic going North is detoured through the neighborhood to allow for proud owners to display their cars on the street. The benefit to this is that southbound traffic gets to enjoy an authentic cruise, as they see the cars lined up for blocks.

Car guru Jim Alleruzzo hosts the summer production from Oak Park Avenue. He speaks with owners of vehicles that stand-out not only to him, but viewers that have provided their feedback on the website. In addition, he speaks to a duo that offers their free time to help their grandpa improve his show car. It is important to see the new generations take pride in what their families begun. Another attraction in this show is the VFW, which offers barbecue food and a way to help veterans.

Oak Park Avenue Cruise Night takes place weekly in Tinley Park, Illinois. Held from June through August, the event takes place from 4 PM to 9 PM. There is no charge to partake. To interact with AC Variety, Follow @ACvariety.
